What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the keystones of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM); a 5,000 year old approach which is just as effective today as it was back then.

The fundamental theory surrounding TCM is that there is an energy force flowing throughout your body, which is referred to as Qi (pronounced “chee”). Qi comprises all of the essential aspects of life – physical, emotional, and spiritual.

Qi flows through various channels throughout the body called meridians. According to TCM, there are 14 pairs of primary meridians running vertically on the surface of the body. When all 14 pairs of primary meridians are flowing, the body is in balance. When the flow of Qi through a primary meridian is blocked, the body is thrown out of balance and the result is illness. Acupuncture seeks to restore your body into normal balance where it can thrive.
